Health Record Book Tests: the List by Profession Group and Renewal
Reviewed by the LabReadAI medical team
The personal health record book (LMK) is required for anyone whose work involves food, water, children or personal services. Which tests go into it is set by Ministry of Health Order No. 90n of 18 February 2022, and the set depends on the profession group. We are an information service: we do not issue health books or certificates, but we can help you see the list in advance so everything is done in one pass. The exact list follows the current order and your employer's requirements.
Who needs the health book
Under Order No. 90n the book is required for workers in:
- the food sector — production, storage, transport and sale of food, catering, kitchens;
- education and childcare — kindergartens, schools, camps, clubs, nannies;
- water supply — waterworks and network maintenance;
- personal and communal services — hairdressers, beauty salons, bathhouses, pools, hotels, laundries.
The health book is not the same as the hiring medical: the Order 29n check-up clears you for the working conditions, while the LMK confirms you pose no risk to the people you serve. The two are often processed together — the check-up itself is covered in the guide on tests for employment.
The base set for every group
| Test | Why |
|---|---|
| Chest X-ray | Rules out pulmonary tuberculosis; valid 12 months |
| Syphilis serology | Screening for active infection |
| Stool for helminth eggs | Intestinal parasites — critical for "contact" professions |
| Pinworm swab | Pinworms — the most contagious helminth infection |
Doctors' exams are added on top — at minimum a physician and a dermatovenereologist, for some groups also a dentist and an ENT — plus vaccination records.
What each profession group adds
| Group | Additional tests |
|---|---|
| Food production, catering, food retail | Typhoid serology; intestinal-infection swab at first issue |
| Specific categories (cream confectionery, maternity and children's wards) | Nose and throat swab for Staphylococcus aureus |
| Groups with mandated STI screening | Gonorrhoea and trichomoniasis swabs at the set intervals |
| Workers at risk of blood contact | Hepatitis B and C markers — per the requirements of the position |
The table shows typical additions, not the full annex: the final list for your position comes from the hygiene centre or the clinic processing the book.
The electronic health book
Since 1 September 2023 health books are kept electronically in Rospotrebnadzor's register: clinics enter exam and test results directly. The paper book is optional — on request it is issued as an extract from the register. The practical consequence: employers verify the book against the register, so a "drawn" paper book is exposed instantly — buying a fake book was always a criminal offence, and with the register it is also pointless.
Renewal: the book is not a one-off
Getting the book once is not enough — tests expire and repeat:
- chest X-ray — yearly;
- doctors' exams and most tests — as a rule, yearly at the periodic check-up;
- infection swabs for specific groups — on their own schedule, sometimes more often than yearly;
- hygiene training with certification — at first issue and then at the interval set for the industry.
An expired test makes the book invalid until re-taken — the employer tracks this, but inspection fines hit both sides.
How to finish faster, and where results live
- Start with the chest X-ray and the cultures: swabs and serology take longest, up to 5–7 working days.
- Take the pinworm swab close to the submission date — it has the shortest validity. If you are also getting a pool certificate, the same swab may cover both — check the validity rules with both organisations.
- Collect the stool sample into a sterile container and deliver it the same day.
- Results go into the electronic register, but keep copies of the forms: they help when changing jobs and for tracking your own health.
The short version
The health book core is a chest X-ray, syphilis serology, stool for helminth eggs and a pinworm swab; food workers add typhoid, specific groups add staphylococcus and STI swabs. Since 2023 the book is electronic, and most tests renew yearly. The exact list follows Order No. 90n and your employer's requirements. Once the forms are ready, you can upload the results for decoding — the service explains each value while the paperwork is processed.
