On the shelf a therapeutic line looks like ordinary food, only better. That is the central misunderstanding. A therapeutic diet is not more nutritious — it is different, deliberately and in one specific direction. What Makes a Therapeutic Diet Different
In a complete food for healthy animals the manufacturer aims at the middle of the range for every nutrient at once. In a therapeutic diet one or two parameters are pushed off that middle on purpose:

Why You Should Not Start a Therapeutic Diet Yourself
