For joint pain, the laboratory solves one single problem — but solves it well: telling inflammatory pain (arthritis, gout, systemic disease) from mechanical pain (osteoarthritis, overload, injury). When you need imaging, not tests
If the pain is mechanical — worse by evening and under load, crunching, no morning stiffness or swelling, CRP quiet — the cause should be sought on an image, not in blood: an X-ray shows osteoarthritis, ultrasound shows tendons and synovitis.
